Why Ukrainian Stars Stay Silent About GLP-1 While Hollywood Has Already Confessed
Weight Management and Healthy Lifestyle Experts

Imagine this situation. You've lost 12 kilograms in three months. You look amazing, feel even better. Then a friend asks: "Are you on something?" You look away and mumble something about a gluten-free diet.
Sound familiar? If so, you're not alone. This article is about why it's still embarrassing to talk about GLP-1 products in Ukraine, when the whole world has long accepted this reality. And most importantly — how to talk about your treatment without feeling guilty.
Hollywood 2024 vs Kyiv 2026: a 24-month gap
When Tori Spelling said on a podcast: "I was on Mounjaro, and everyone's admitting it now. Times have changed" [1], she opened a wave of public admissions in the US. And this wave turned out to be a tsunami.
Just in 2023-2024, over 20 Hollywood stars publicly confirmed taking GLP-1 products. Here's just part of the list:
- Oprah Winfrey — talked about GLP-1 on her own podcast, admitting: "I finally understood that thin people just don't think about food the way I do" [2]
- Meghan Trainor — openly stated about Mounjaro after her second pregnancy: "I worked with a nutritionist, changed my lifestyle, started working out and yes, used science and support" [3]
- Lizzo — shared her experience on the Just Trish podcast: "I tried everything. Ozempic works because you eat less" [3]
- Whoopi Goldberg — admitted taking Mounjaro on The View show [2]
- Sunny Hostin — openly talked about gaining 40 pounds during pandemic and Mounjaro's help [2]
- Dolores Catania — explained medical indications: "I was prescribed both because I have insulin resistance and thyroid problems" [2]
- Sharon Osbourne — warned about side effects: "I didn't want to become this thin. It just happened" [4]
- Tracy Morgan — approached the topic with humor: "It's Ozempic. That's how I lost weight" [7]
- Jim Gaffigan — explained his motivation: "I share my experience to remove stigma from weight loss products" [8]
And now — Ukraine. How many Ukrainian stars publicly admitted GLP-1?
Zero.
This gap isn't accidental. It's cultural. And it costs health to many Ukrainian women who are ashamed to seek help.
Коли Меган Трейнор каже «я використала науку», вона нормалізує медичну допомогу при схудненні. Коли українські зірки мовчать, вони підтримують стигму, через яку жінки соромляться піклуватися про своє здоров'я.
Zaritska (KAZKA) case: gym photos as "proof"

KAZKA frontwoman Alexandra Zaritska is one of the most discussed Ukrainian stars when it comes to weight loss. Her transformation is obvious, and the internet immediately started buzzing about Ozempic.
What did Zaritska do? She started actively posting gym photos. On her Instagram page, she showed "biohacking weekends" — complex handstands and posing in athletic wear [15]. The message is clear: here's my result, and it's from sports.
Here's one important thing to note. Denying Ozempic doesn't equal denying GLP-1 in general. The market has Mounjaro, which works through a different mechanism — dual action on GLP-1 and GIP receptors [13]. There's Retatrutide with triple mechanism. So when a star says "I'm not on Ozempic," this can technically be true — while she might be taking another GLP-1 product.
Did Zaritska specifically deny Ozempic? Judging by posts, her strategy is showing the process rather than directly denying rumors. Gym photos, workout videos, frames from the gym in Skhidnytsia during "biohacking" [15].
But here's what's interesting: biohacking as a field includes working with hormones and modern pharmacology. These don't exclude each other. You can both exercise and take medical products — actually specialists recommend exactly this for the best results.
Заперечення «я не на Оземпіку» схоже на «я не їжджу на Toyota» — коли насправді у вас Lexus. Технічно правда, але не вся картина.
We're not accusing Zaritska of lying. We're analyzing a culture where it's easier for a star to post handstand photos than say: "Yes, I work with a specialist and use a modern approach to weight management."
Dorofieva case: "horrible gluten-free diet"

Nadia Dorofieva approached the issue differently. She doesn't hide and doesn't pretend nothing is happening. She openly talks about her diet — but explains it with medical reasons unrelated to medications.
"It's horrible! Gluten-free diet is horrible. I was diagnosed with gluten intolerance, though I love pastries, everything related to pasta, bread, pizza. I eat everything! I've been thin since childhood, that's just how it is. And here they put me on this diet… Very difficult" — the artist confessed [9].
Later the singer adapted to the new diet and even noticed positive changes in her well-being and appearance. According to Nadia, her skin became much better [9]. Her husband, restaurateur Misha Katsurin, constantly supports her [10].
It's quite possible that the gluten-free diet is true. Gluten intolerance really exists, and it really affects weight and skin condition. But here's what's interesting: fast and quality weight loss with simultaneous skin improvement — that's exactly what DOZA clients describe when taking GLP-1 products.
We're not claiming Dorofieva is lying. We're just stating a fact: in Ukrainian information space, "horrible diet" sounds more socially acceptable than "I work with an endocrinologist and use modern pharmacology."
What if Zaritska admitted it: alternative scenario
Let's imagine. Picture Alexandra Zaritska posting on Stories saying: "Yes, I work with a specialist. I take a modern product for appetite control. And I exercise. One doesn't exclude the other."
What would happen?
We already saw the first wave with Oprah's example. When she admitted GLP-1, part of the audience accused her of "cheating" [4]. They said she talked about willpower for years, and now it turns out products were helping.
But then something else happened. Oprah explained her position: "I realized that thin people don't have more willpower. They just don't feel the hunger I felt" [2]. And millions of women first felt that their struggle wasn't their fault.
If Zaritska did the same, she would get hate from part of the audience. But she would also give permission to thousands of Ukrainian women to seek help. Because when a star says "it's normal," it becomes normal.
Unfortunately, Ukrainian stars still choose the safe path. Gym photos instead of honest conversation.
Who this stigma hurts: 3 groups in Ukraine

GLP-1 stigma isn't just inconvenience for stars. It's a real barrier to health for specific people.
Women 35-55 with postpartum weight
You gave birth to a child. Or two. Your body changed, and it doesn't want to return to its previous form. You tried diets, gym, everything friends recommended. Nothing works as promised.
You heard about Mounjaro. You even know it's more effective than Ozempic — 22.5% vs 15% weight loss [13]. But you stay silent. Because what will people say?
You can read real DOZA client results to see the stories of women who still dared to take the step.
Men 40+ with abdominal obesity
Ukrainian men rarely talk about weight at all. "Beer belly" is perceived as a sign of respectability, not a health problem. But abdominal obesity is a risk of diabetes, cardiovascular disease, early death.
GLP-1 products show excellent results specifically with abdominal obesity. But men rarely seek help because "it's for women" or "it's weakness."
People with type 2 diabetes
Paradoxical situation: GLP-1 was originally developed for diabetics. They lower blood sugar by an average of 0.9% HbA1c in six months [1]. But due to "weight loss" stigma, some diabetics are ashamed to take these products. They say "I'm not doing it for figure, I have medical indications."
Why explain? Medical help is medical help.
Поки зірки соромляться, а суспільство засуджує — українки відкладають звернення по допомогу. Щороку. На роки. До моменту, коли прості рішення вже не спрацюють.
How to talk about your treatment: 5 proven phrases

If you're already on the program or thinking about it, you're probably worried: how to explain to loved ones? How not to feel guilty?
Here are five options, tested by DOZA clients and supported by psychologist recommendations for open family communication [19].
1. Technical truth: "I'm working on GLP-1 hormone levels"
This is absolutely accurate description of what you're doing. GLP-1 is an intestinal hormone that regulates appetite and insulin sensitivity [12]. You're working with its level under specialist supervision. Period.
2. Medical frame: "I'm on a metabolic program"
Also true. You're correcting metabolism with a modern approach. This sounds serious, medical, and doesn't evoke associations with "miracle weight loss pills."
3. Oprah's cognitive frame: "I take a product that helps my brain control appetite"
This is the explanation Oprah Winfrey used [2]. It shifts focus from "weakness" to biology. Your brain works differently — and you're giving it support.
4. No-excuses position: "I work with a specialist on my health"
Short. No details. You're not obligated to explain every step of your health improvement. As psychologists note, respect personal boundaries and don't engage in discussions if you don't want to [22].
5. Honesty as strategy: just tell the truth
The most difficult but most liberating option. "Yes, I take Mounjaro. It's a modern approach to weight management. It helps me."
Research shows that self-disclosure — openness about yourself — strengthens relationships and reduces anxiety [19]. Hiding something from loved ones is stressful. Telling the truth is liberating.

❓ FAQ
No Ukrainian celebrity has publicly admitted to taking GLP-1 products as of end 2025. Meanwhile, over 20 Hollywood stars openly discuss it. This doesn't mean Ukrainian celebrities aren't using them, just that cultural stigma prevents open discussion.
